Course Description

In this live, interactive, online workshop participants will explore advanced topics in Multi-Modal Attachment Therapy (M-MAT) Including:

M-MAT Individual
M-MAT Group
Trauma and M-MAT
Integrating other modalities into M-MAT while maintaining model integrity
Troubleshooting M-MAT clinical situations

Although there will be some slide presentations and lecture, live demonstrations and role-play as needed, the topics will be explored primarily through small and and larger group discussion in a seminar style. Class size is limited to 18 participants. Participants should be prepared to actively participate.

Educational Goals

Participants will be able to adapt the M-MAT model from a dyadic format to individual and group formats; they will understand the elements of M-MAT that support healing from trauma; and they will be able to integrate other modalities into M-MAT while maintaining the integrity of the model.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:
  •  Explain the differences between M-MAT and M-MAT Individual Interventions.
  • Explain 2 clinical concerns in implementing M-MAT Individual.
  • Create a session plan for group M-MAT.
  • Demonstrate 3 group attachment-based play activities.
  • Describe 3 ways M-MAT addresses the needs of children with trauma.
  • Identify 1 way to maintain the integrity of the M-MAT model when integrating additional modalities.

Catherine A. Young, LMFT

Catherine Young, M.S., LMFT, is an author, trainer, speaker, consultant, clinical supervisor, and child and family therapist. She has devoted over 25 years to working with children and families in settings as diverse as early childhood mental health, children's day treatment and intensive outpatient services, foster and adoption agencies, and youth probation. Catherine is the founder of a new attachment-based therapy model for helping children with some of the most challenging and treatment-resistant behaviors and their families: Multi-Modal Attachment Therapy (M-MAT).
She is the author or two books, one for therapists and one for parents/caregivers.

On-Demand Video Courses: M-MAT Training Institute does not provide refunds for online on-demand courses.
Live Online Courses: Live courses can be cancelled up to 7 days before the course start date for a full refund by emailing admin@mmatti.org. If the course is cancelled less than 7 days before the start of the course, a refund of 50% of the course fee will be provided. Refunds will be provided within 5 business days of the receipt of the request.
For courses purchased as part of a bundle, the bundle discount will no longer apply and the refund will be adjusted accordingly.
